Get to know Loraine of Mojica Photography! We have had the joy of working with talented Lawrence, KS based photographer on more than one occasion and we want you to get to know her a little better as well.

How did you get into the bridal photography business?

I had a great mentor that was relocating to another state, who took me under his wing and taught me the business side. I had always loved photography as a hobby, but didn’t really know all the ins and outs of doing it professionally.

How many years have you been in the industry?

I shot my first wedding in the summer of 2009. My technique and my gear have changed a lot since then, but I still feel like my aesthetic style is the same.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Easily—going to weddings. I always have my husband with me as a second photographer, and we both love the receptions and all of the love and emotion that gets expressed at weddings. It really makes us feel closer as a couple, and we always have a great time seeing our couples create some amazing memories of their own.

What do you think is the best thing you have to offer to your clients?

The best thing we have to offer is ourselves. My husband and I feel that our photographic style is unique and that our personalities are easygoing. We like to make weddings easier for our clients, both in the planning stage and on the big day.

How would you describe your photography style?

While it’s hard to describe a photograph in words, it’s even harder to describe a photographic style. I guess the most important thing about our style is capturing emotion. We like to capture authentic smiles and genuine tears. We look out for moments that come once in a lifetime, like the dad crying as he hugs his son after the ceremony (only later to find out that no one in the family has ever seen him cry.) We try to always have our trigger fingers primed for those fleeting moments.

What do you do in your free time- just for fun?!

Josh and I are somewhat out-doorsy, so we enjoy camping and hiking when the weather cooperates. Josh also loves mountain biking and I love swimming. When we stay in, we like cuddling on the couch watching movies and shows (my words of course—Josh would probably call it “chilaxing.”) We also like to play LEGO video games with our son, as well as Just Dance.
