Real Bride: Mandy S.
This week we are so happy to be sharing Mandy’s downtown Kansas City wedding day! As you will see in the story she shared below, Mandy found Altar because she knew the Carol Hannah Kensington gown was The One. She and Chris had planned a laid back and intimate wedding and Kensington is a gorgeous full skirt made of a relaxed and beautiful open-weave linen. Carol Hannah’s silk jersey tank top was a perfect way to bring ivory silk to the ensemble but in an equally laid back manner. You can see why she was so taken with this two-piece; she looks gorgeous and you can tell how perfect all of her day of details fit together!
From the bride: Chris and I have known each other since high school and were inseparable best friends for years before we began dating. We soon realized that we had been looking for love in all the wrong places and the only people we wanted to be with was with each other. We were together for about 5 years until Chris asked me to marry him on top of a mountain in Colorado. It was a dream come true.
When planning our big day, I had one goal in mind…to keep it fun, relaxed and make it a true celebration of us. We chose to keep the ceremony small by including only family and close friends. We invited everyone else to the reception and had such a great time! We kept things non-traditional. I did not want the focus to be on the cake cutting or the bouquet toss. Those activities are fun, however Chris and I wanted to have the evening be free of itineraries and to-do’s. We wanted to enjoy the night and everyone there with us.
We decided to go with a woodsy feel for the theme because we love the mountains, camping and hiking trails in the forest…that is where we feel most at home. I collected rustic lanterns, moss and wood slices as well as other unique and rustic additions for décor. I also ordered small succulents to use on my center pieces and ordered the most adorable succulent bouquet!
When I was on the search for my dress, I knew the look I was going for but was having such a hard time finding the right dress. I found the Kensington online and found out that Altar Bridal was the only store near me that carried it. I knew it was THE dress immediately. Not only because it looked exactly as I pictured, but when I put the dress on for the first time, Chris and I’s song suddenly started playing in the store. I couldn’t believe it…it was meant to be. The staff at Altar Bridal are absolutely amazing. They made me feel so special and I knew they truly cared about my happiness on my wedding day. They have the BEST selection of dresses with the utmost quality.
I had Kyle Lackey as my photographer. He captured the evening exactly as I envisioned it. He did an excellent job making our photos look natural with such a professional touch. He is great to work with and I would recommend him to everyone!
Overall, our big day was perfect. I could not have asked for a better wedding day experience…I only wish I could do it all again!
