Real Bride: Lauren W.
Lauren came in for her first appointment excited to fall in love with a Katie May gown and fall in love she did. The gorgeous lace, fit, and dramatic low back was everything she was looking for her October wedding at Fresh Air Farm. Read on to hear Lauren and Paulie’s love story; their beaming smiles say it all!
From the bride: We met at La Bodega circa August 2012. Quickly we discovered our similar passion for good music. We kept running into each other at concerts around town. Our first date was at the Crossroads; Paulie got tickets to see Umphrey’s Mcgee. It wasn’t long before we were dating, bought a puppy and named him Pistachio (ya, the famous one you see with all the wood), and were living in a cabin in Parkville. We were pretty much in love with life and each other. We really didn’t separate much after that. Paulie likes to joke that I visited the cabin and never left 😉
After two Christmas trees, lots of bonfires, pallet furniture and an Aunt and Uncle who probably wanted their cabin back, we decided it was time to move on with our lives. We bought a house up in north KC where the dog could roam in his own backyard.
In August of last year we visited my uncle’s cabin in Nebraska, a little weekend getaway to Lake Calamus. The two of us and the dog in the middle of no-where Nebraska. The perfect place for an engagement; Paulie popped the question on the beach presenting a ring in a handmade wooden box. We celebrated with a couple of bone-in-ribeyes (he knows the way to his girl’s heart).
From Lauren: My favorite thing about Paulie is his willingness to put others first. He will put himself out for anyone at anytime. I love seeing how courteous he is towards others. Even if he has had a long day at work and just wants to come home, he will wash dishes for an hour and a half to help out the shorthanded kitchen staff before he leaves. Whether it’s work, his brothers or his friends, he will go the extra mile, always. Not only does he carry that much care through his relationships, but he pours it into his passions as well. Some might call it perfectionism, I just like to think of it as extreme enthusiasm.
From Paulie: My favorite thing about Lucy is her carefree attitude along with her drive to grow as an individual and a family. She makes me want to be a better and person and strive for my own goals. It’s a great thing when you can share the joy of PHISH concerts, travel, and our dog Pistachio and be happy doing it as much as possible. I look forward to the life I get to live with her.
We make a pretty solid team. We share the same values, passions and persistence. Always encouraging each other to do better and be better. Our faults make each other stronger and our strengths carry us to live at a higher standard. Our proudest moments are those spent doing the things we love, eating good food, dancing to good music, and just enjoying time together and with our dog. It is all about quality of life for us. We are given a short time, some of us shorter than others. You better be damn sure we are going to live it well, together.
