Real Bride: Katie C.

We are so happy to share this sweet wedding day of Katie and Christian. Probably because Katie is just the type of bride that makes you smile! You can tell that these two wanted to have a memorable and fun wedding day and we are thrilled that we got to be a part of it. From the moment we found Katie’s unique Sarah Seven gown, I was eager to see the rest of her day of details. We found the most perfect Sara Gabriel veil with a floral French lace along the edge that played into the delicate beaded lace top of her Perry gown. Next, Katie fell in love with a bold, sparkly hair comb that she referred to as her Starfish! What a fun bride. A huge thank you to Katie for sharing her day with us so she can make you smile too! From the bride: Christian and I met while attending Creighton University in Omaha where I fell in love with his goofy personality and genuine care for others.  We had a ton of fun the last semester of Christian’s senior year (which can probably be attributed to us both being babies of our families) and staying together post-college was an easy decision.   After his senior year he moved to Kansas City and I followed in 2013 the next year.  We got engaged last year in Monterey, California and tied the knot this past June!

Christian and I both enjoy the downtown living low-key feel of KC.  We love exploring different areas together and we’ve really noticed how the city has grown over the past three years.   We both were raised with an appreciation for art and like the playfulness and color that graffiti brings to this city.   That’s why incorporating KC culture was important to us for our wedding day.   Being able to hang out at a few of our favorite places for pictures prior to the reception was an exciting part of a busy day.

Our reception was vintage-rustic inspired with really awesome farmhouse tables we rented from UltraPom and the most incredible flower arrangements from Erin Volante Floral.  We also had mismatched pink and green china that my mom and her friends had been thrifting for all year (it is seriously an amazing collection)!!

Christian is a sports enthusiast; despite his primary job as a Senior Business Analyst he could practically double as an ESPN play-by-play reporter and his basketball card collection staring a vintage Michael Jordan rookie card, has a special place in our Crossroads apartment.  So, when we found out it was possible to rent an NBA Jam arcade machine for our reception, it was a no-brainer.

I have to say the best part of the day though was having friends and family from all over come together to help us celebrate our commitment to each other!  It’s hard to not feel loved in a room full of people that support and care about you!!
