Real Bride: Jessica F.
Jessica was absolutely one of the sweetest brides we’ve had the pleasure of working with- so happy and in search of the perfect, personalized touches to complete her and Brian’s wedding day! Her personal style drew her to Ivy & Aster and the gorgeous Then Came You gown. We are so excited to share these perfect photos captured by Chloé Giancola Photography.
From the bride: Brian and I met at the end of our junior year in college at a stoplight birthday party for one of his friends in Auburn, Alabama. It was love at first dance.
We love adventures, particularly road trips. Brian and I have a tradition in which we stop at every state sign and take a picture together. We were missing Missouri because Missouri tends to place their signs in unsafe locations such as the middle of bridges. For the Fourth of July, Brian and I packed up the car to go camping. We stopped at a Missouri state sign that Brian had scouted out a couple of weeks in advance. Normally, I am in charge of setting the camera up; however, Brian wanted to be the one in charge that day. Rather than setting the camera on a timer mode, Brian set the camera on a video mode. He proposed in front of the Missouri state sign that day and the proposal was better than I could ever have imagined.
Our wedding was in Athens, Georgia. Our ceremony was at the church that I grew up going to, and the reception was at my parents’ farm. Our day was absolutely perfect! Every detail and moment, including the weather, was better than I could have imagined. The reception was absolutely gorgeous. The flowers, mercury candles, hurricanes, and table runners were all so beautiful. The tent with its beautiful lights strung inside and around gave the night a magical feel.
Family is extremely important to both Brian and I, so we wanted to make sure that our family was incorporated into our wedding day. The prayer bench at the ceremony was a gift that was given to my parents by my great-grandparents for their wedding day. We also created a door with pictures of our family (parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles) from their wedding days. It meant a lot to both of us because we were able to honor those that could not be with us that day and the love that brought us together.
Brian and I were ski instructors in Utah in 2011, and we met some really great people. Of those people, one was a musician named Jimmy Curry who happens to be in a band with his brother and cousin. Jimmy used to play at The Spur in Park City, and Brian and I knew immediately that we wanted The Currys to play at our wedding. It was like a little bit of Utah was there that day.
I am a Southern girl at heart, so we incorporated some Southern inspiration in to our day such as the food – beef short ribs, squash casserole, pimento cheese, roasted peach salad, and of course biscuits and fried chicken.
Brian and I brew beer together. He is the master brew and I am the sous brew. We brewed three different beers for the wedding – a Saison, a Double IPA, and an American IPA. They were delicious and definitely a hit. Our florist knew that we brewed beer and she included a hop plant in my bouquet!
I really cannot say enough good things about our wedding to truly describe how wonderful it was!
