Real Bride Blog: Liz

A picturesque setting in Fort Myers, Florida was the perfect location for our real bride Liz and her fiancé Rob! The ease of her Kate McDonald gown provided the perfect mix of comfort and elegance for the event that the couple kept intimate and close to the heart with her mother acting as her maid of honor and a ceremony attended by their nearest and dearest family and friends.

From the beautiful bride: Rob and I met in 2012 through EHarmony and got engaged a year later when he proposed in Las Vegas, one of our favorite cities. I have never been a girl who dreamed about my wedding and knew more of what I did not want, rather than what I wanted! We decided on Fort Myers Beach as we had visited for my 30th and loved the idea of a destination wedding with a laid back vibe. We picked January as it is a great time to leave Chicago’s winter and we, along with our friends are huge football fans so Superbowl weekend was perfect! Overall, our day was amazing. We had 50 people flying in from all over the US and even one from Australia! Our ceremony was three minutes, we were married by my husband’s friend and my mom was my maid of honor. After the beach, we took a party bus to Doc Ford’s where the reception kicked off after sunset. The staff at Doc Ford’s was incredible, they were so accommodating with any requests! The food was buffet style and the 5 hour open bar was a huge hit. Our first dance was “Mine Would Be You” by Blake Shelton and my dad and I danced to “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin to celebrate our Italian heritage. It was everything I wanted – low key, a cute and comfy dress, my friends and family dancing all night and plenty of food and drink to keep everyone happy. After the reception, we went to a local bar and got back to the hotel at 2am, after a truly epic day.
