Real Bride: Ashley D.
Ashley and Josh’s wedding was both timeless and glamorous! Studio Dan Meiners was the perfect location for their day with its clean white walls and pops of contemporary decor. What a fun and sweet bride who absolutely rocked her fitted, beaded Augusta Jones gown. We had an amazing time helping her put together her wedding day look from head to toe. Keep reading for their story and see some gorgeous photos captured by Beau Vaughn Photography!
From the bride: “Josh and I met through a chance encounter that would seem fated in about any generation preceding ours. Despite growing up in the same area, and having many mutual acquaintances, our paths never crossed until he liked a photo I had posted on Facebook of my friend and I, with her boyfriend photobombing in the background. I had not a clue who Josh Jacobs was, but I mentioned to my friend that I thought he was cute, and her ever zealous boyfriend called him immediately to arrange a date. We were both a little leery about meeting through such an odd way, but were similarly unattached and really didn’t think things were going to go anywhere so we agreed to meet. The first night we hung out Josh had said he was going to be late, because he “spilled water on his pants and had to dry them” I thought surely he was standing me up and had resigned myself to the notion that I wasn’t going to meet Prince Charming through a Facebook post after all, and honestly, who could expect too, it was too random. He did show up though, 30 minutes late and with a mouth full of excuses, of which he needed none because he had such an endearing quality to his presence that I could tell he was a completely genuine person. After 3 years together and countless spills I understand that he wasn’t making an excuse after all, the man of my dreams is genuinely clumsy.
Our relationship has been the greatest experience of both of our lives and being married to Josh truly is the best decision I ever made, but getting to this point was not without it’s hardships. For the first year and a half of our relationship we lived almost 2 hours apart, and with our work schedules were only able to see each other a couple times a week at most. The distance put a lot of strain on our relationship at times, but it also strengthened our resolve to be together. It taught us not just to communicate, but HOW to communicate, and it taught us how to be selfless with our time, when we had a chance to be together we always made the most of it.
As most couples do we share many of the same passions. For me personally, my favorite spot in Kansas City is the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and it became a favorite place for us to go together, so much so that Josh proposed to me on the lawn of the Nelson, on a beautiful October evening.
Our wedding day was absolutely magical, from my dress to the flowers to the music, but most importantly it was made special by all the friends and family that came out to support us. We have grown into the people we are today in part because of all the wonderful influences we have had around us, throughout our journey together and before, so thank you to everyone for having such a profound impact on our lives.
We are living our happily ever after!”
