From the Bride:
We chose Colorado because it is our favorite state; had we not chosen to take care of my dad after his stroke, we definitely would’ve moved there. Crested Butte was special because we love the old mountain town feel. We feel like it is one of Colorado’s hidden treasures. Not to mention, it is gorgeous, and the wild flowers are incredible in July.
We chose July 29th because it was so close to our dating anniversary, August 2nd. We got married just days before our 9th anniversary.
It was very special to have our son, Hunter Thomas as our ring bearer. Also, our nieces were the flower girls. We invited only our closest friends and family. We wanted an intimate wedding and reception that celebrated our love, faith, and joining of two families. Family is incredibly important to us, and it was so special to be able to thank each individual guest for coming. We also loved our first look. It allowed us some time to just be together and to enjoy some alone time before our celebration.
Patrick and I have cared for my dad since 2008. He worked so hard to be strong enough to walk me down the aisle. It was such an emotional walk for my dad and I and it left Patrick in tears. Truly special.
I work with Melissa Edman at Saint Luke’s Hospice House. She met with Patrick and I, and together we crafted a deeply meaningful, faith filled ceremony. I’ll always remember it.
It sprinkled all day, even during wedding party photos, with the exception of about an hour. We were able to take family photos and have the outdoor ceremony we had dreamed of before nestling into the tent. Then the torrential rain started. Honestly, it was actually quite beautiful.
Gifts and Traditions:
Patrick gifted a blue Tacori ring to me the day of the wedding for my something blue. My something new was a veil and dress that was a gift from my father. Then, I borrowed my best friend, Lauren’s, finger-tip length veil for pictures when it was raining and the reception. I utilized my grandmother’s ring pillow for the rings. My mom gifted a 2017 penny for my shoe and jewelry. I gifted Patrick an additional wedding band that he can use in addition to the wedding band he chose. It was engraved with Hunter, Patrick, and my fingerprint. I left space to engrave the fingerprints of our future children.
