Cody and I met in July of 2012 in Manhattan, KS where we were both attending Kansas State University. We struck up a great friendship until we realized there was something special there. Throughout our time at K-State we did a lot of things together. We studied, tailgated, traveled, and walked his dog Bosco. Our time at K-State was coming to a close soon. We graduated together in May of 2014. We soon moved to Kansas City to start our future careers. Soon after a year of living in KC our lives changed again.
On September 6th, 2015 Cody took me out to Grinter Farms to see the magnificent sunflower fields. We walked around the field for quite a while. Little did I know that Cody was looking for the photographer he had arranged to capture his proposal. Cody popped the question and I answered “Yes”!
Soon the wedding planning began with nine months to plan the best day of our lives. Once we found our venue at Hallbrook Country Club everything began to make sense and fall into place. Our colors were a blush pink with an accent of a deep royal purple. We wanted to have that K-State pride in our pictures. Our view was a simple, elegant wedding. Our centerpieces were crafted beautifully by Jenni at WildHill Flowers. She was able to understand what I was looking to achieve during our meetings. Altar Bridal was my next stop. All the girls were so helpful when I tried on many gowns. I always came back to Carla by WToo. I ended up purchasing my gown the day of the Royals Pep Rally, they hustled back to open the store so that my out of town bridesmaids could be there with me when I said “Yes to the Dress.” As the wedding planning continued my goal was to make sure that everything would be flawless the day of. We had over half of our guests traveling from out of state. It made sense to us that we would have the ceremony and the reception all at one location. It was extremely helpful to be at the wedding and reception site the morning of to get ready in case there were any last minute disasters. Thankfully everything went smoothly thanks to one of my great friends Ariele. We had such a magical and unforgettable day that we love reliving it through our pictures. It is a day we will always cherish.
