Real Bride: Alex W.

Our Real Bride Alex knew just what she wanted in her gown when she arrived at Altar and we were just tickled when she decided that the gorgeous Augusta Jones Anita gown filled her vision of vintage inspired lace. The blush lining made the gown a little unique and really made the lace detail pop! Alex was our very first bride to find her gown at our new store location in Park Place in Leawood! This is just one of many reasons she holds a special place in our heart. This vintage themed wedding was perfectly captured by her photographer Andrea DeLong. Thank you for being so great to work with along the way. We wish you and Albert a lifetime of happy memories!

From the bride: Albert and I have been together for almost nine years. We met during our sophomore year at Mizzou. I was a Mizzou cheerleader when we met and we bonded over our love for the Missouri Tigers. We both knew pretty early on that we had found the one. He is compassionate, thoughtful, loving and fun. Albert also has an incredible sense of humor and always knows what to say to make me smile.

Although I grew up in Kansas City, we currently live in St. Louis as Albert grew up in the area and I am working on my doctorate degree at Saint Louis University. Planning a wedding during graduate school was hectic but Albert was intimately involved in all steps of the process which was incredibly helpful. We decided to get married in April as an April wedding is a family tradition; Albert’s parents, aunt and uncle and one of his sisters were also married in April. In terms of a theme, I knew that I wanted a wedding with a vintage feel which included a brooch bouquet and lots of lace. My mother assembled my beautiful brooch bouquet which was created by using jewelry that I owned as well as special pieces collected from family and friends. Altar was the first and only placed I looked in order to find the lace dress of my dreams. I was extremely pleased with my experience and feel so lucky to have been the first bride to purchase a dress at Altar’s new location. A special thank you goes out to Sara for her assistance during this process!
