From the Bride:
How they met:
Tyler and I actually met through my brother, Alex. Alex had told me several times that Tyler and I should meet each other. I was very hesitant to date my brother’s best friend. I always thought to myself , “what if it didn’t work out?” or, “what if I ruined their friendship?” After my brother kept bugging me, I decided to give Tyler a chance. We dated for about a year and then we went our separate ways. Three years later, I ran into Tyler again and we both knew that we were meant to be with each other!
It was Monday, January 23rd, 2017. For the past couple of weeks, I knew something was up. We had already lived together and I accidentally found the receipt to the ring he had bought me! I just put it away and acted like I had never found it. So, a couple weeks went by and nothing had happened. But then, a week before we proposed to me he gave it all away! Well, that’s what I had thought at the time.
He told me that I needed to get in and get my hair done, so I thought to myself, “it’s finally happening!” I was ready and prepared for one of the biggest days of my life. He had originally planned to propose to me on that Sunday, the 22nd. Well, that day I ended up having a conflict and he had to have everything changed for the following day. When I came home that Sunday, I was sad and had kept to myself pretty much all evening. When Tyler asked me what was wrong I told him, “I thought you were going to propose to me today.” He had responded back and said “Hang in there Taelor. It will be soon.” Little did I know it was happening the next day!
Tyler had told me that we were meeting his grandma for lunch, which we hadn’t seen her in a while so I believed him. He ended up proposing to me at Kaw Point in Kansas City and had a photographer there to capture it all! It was one of the coldest days, but it was truly amazing! We went and met my mom and grandma after and they had champagne waiting for us. We ended up eating at Bristol that evening to celebrate our engagement, which is one of our favorite restaurants.
After working in Park Place and walking past Altar Bridal everyday, I knew I wanted to get my dress there! Sara and Dede are absolutely amazing to work with and found me the most perfect dress. When I first got engaged I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but I was wrong. I told myself that I did not want a lace dress, but that’s what I ended up getting! Sara convinced me to try on several lace dresses and the Mikaella dress ended up being exactly what I wanted. I love that it wasn’t traditional because of the slit up the middle, and I knew that I wanted breathtaking shoes! It was an easy decision and I am so glad I was able to have Sara and Dede apart of my decision making process.
Not only did I love my dress, but I wanted to have a non-traditional veil. After I deciding on doing different shades of blue for the bridesmaids dresses, I remembered that Sara Gabriel made the most gorgeous ombre blue veil. Not only was it my “something blue,” but it was exactly what I wanted to complete my look!
The Wedding Day:
April was a cold and dreary month and I was so afraid the weather would be terrible, but it couldn’t have been a better day! It turned out to be the first sunny and warm day out of the entire month. I knew that day everything was going to wonderful, and it did! It was a day to remember.
