From the bride:
The Proposal: It was the Saturday evening of September 5, 2015. We had been visiting friends in Chicago over Labor Day weekend, I was unaware of the surprise that Brad had in store for me. While hanging out with friends at the loft we had rented for the weekend, Brad pulled me aside out to the balcony. His strategy was to distract me by pointing out airplanes passing by through the night. After the third try, I finally looked to the sky. Upon turning around I found Brad on one knee with a ring in his hand and a smile on his face. He said a few sweet words, amongst them, ” Will you marry me?”
Of course I said yes, and we joined our friends inside to celebrate.
Our Wedding Day: Brad and I had were the proud parents of two, four-legged fur babies named Diamond and Mongo, both boxers. Brad had Diamond for 6 years before we met. I being dog-lover, instantly connected with Diamond, and a few short months later I fell in love with Brad too. Diamond was 11 years old and we lost her a couple months before the wedding. Diamond meant the world to Brad and I and we were devastated to lose her especially before the wedding. Something I really wanted was to make sure that she was a part of that day. One of the photos shows the cake topper I had custom made and surprised Brad with at the Rehearsal Dinner. It features both of our dogs as well as Brad and I on his Harley (which he loves) . The cake topper may have been one of my favorite things about the wedding.
Two of my requests were that we had a variety of different food for the guests to choose from and live music. We ended up having a variety of finger foods at the cocktail hour and for dinner we had Chinese, BBQ, and my personal favorite Chicken fingers with mac n cheese. We also had 5 different varieties of cupcakes and cake the guests could snack on. Ours guest enjoyed the live jazz band we had during the cocktail hour as well as the live band we had at our reception
We were so overwhelmed by the love and support everyone showed for us. We had over 350 guests turn up. The wedding was everything I could have ever imagined it would be and so much more, but most importantly I got to marry my best friend.
I felt so beautiful in my dress and I loved the fact that I got to make it my own. I added detachable sleeves by Sara Gabriel and I ended up taking them off during the reception. I was so sad when I took my gown off because I knew I would never wear it again. I hope to one day get to pass my dress on to our children.
