From the Bride:

How they met:

After the persistence of my mom and sister, I joined Match.com. It turned out to be a
great piece of advice, because it led to me meeting Gary. We had our first date at
Urban Table in Prairie Village. He is originally from New Jersey, but moved to
Kansas City in 2014 for his job. I am from Overland Park. After our third date, we
both knew we had found something special.

The Proposal:

Finally, on Labor Day weekend of 2016, we had plans to grab dinner after work. Gary casually suggested Urban Table so we could enjoy the nice weather on the patio. Little did I
know, my dreams were about to come true.

Gary worked with the restaurant to create a special menu. Each section of the menu had special headings such as “My Best Friend” and “My Better Half.” The best heading was placed at the top of the entrees, and it read, “Lori, will you marry me?”  Then, Gary got down on one
knee and asked me to spend my life with him. After I was able to compose myself, I said  “Yes!”  It was by far the best and easiest decision I’ve ever made. Afterwards, Gary
surprised me with friends and family waiting around the corner at BRGR for drinks.

The Planning:

From the beginning, Gary and I both knew we wanted a big party with lots of food,
drinks and dancing. I knew I was not one for the details of planning a wedding, so I
asked my good friend, Danielle Suarez (who owns Bella Bridesmaids) to come out of
her wedding planning “retirement” to plan my wedding. Throughout, Danielle made everything so easy. We thoroughly enjoyed planning our wedding thanks to the help of
Danielle, our parents, and all our incredible vendors.

Since I am in education, I knew I wanted a summer wedding. When it came to
picking a venue, we kept in mind that many of our guests would be coming from the
East Coast and have never traveled to KC. We also wanted the venue to be convenient
for our guests and have them in walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars and our
wedding.

Gary and I both LOVE a good party with lots of dancing. So, picking the right band who
could get the party started and keep it going all night long was a huge priority for us.
Of course, Diamond Empire did not disappoint! We did not leave the dance floor all night.

Picking out my dress at Altar Bridal was a dream come true. Especially, Sara is so incredible to work with,  and her service throughout the entire process was impeccable.

The Wedding:

Guests were greeted at the Brass on Baltimore with champagne and music.
Afterwards, guests rode the elevator to the rooftop for a night of food, cocktails, and
lots of dancing. We lucked out with incredible weather. Then, the party continued after
the reception ended at the Drum Room.

As cliché as it sounds, our wedding was the best day of my life. Not to mention, we are so thankful to all of our friends and family for making this day one we will never forget. My sister was telling me leading up to the big day to soak it all in because it goes by so fast,
and man was she right. And, on our one month wedding anniversary, we found out
we are expecting our first BABY!!
