We are so excited to post this beautiful wedding highlighting gorgeous photos by the talented Anna Jones Photography. We love the story these photos tell. Katie and Adam used strong, beautiful colors to go along with their venue- the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines. And check out Adam’s velvet jacket; we love a well-styled groom!
From the bride: Adam and I met at work in 2012. After 6 months of flirting we finally started dating! Adam proposed outside of our favorite restaurant in Des Moines, which happened to be on the same street where we had our first kiss. We dove head first into wedding planning, starting with booking our venue. We got married and had our reception at the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines. It is a beautiful venue with a neat history. It is an old masonic temple with stained glass windows and huge marble columns that was almost torn down, but luckily it has been restored and right when we walked in we knew we wanted to get married there! It is also next door to the building where we met!
We based a lot of our design decisions on the Temple’s look. It is a “fancy” setting but we are also casual people, so we found a good balance. The wedding party wore black but we kept our flowers bright and wild. Our food was pretty traditional but we served a tequila and pineapple cocktail and Krispy Kremes for dessert. One of my favorite details was Adam’s velvet suit jacket. Shelly put black velvet ribbons on my bouquet to match. I loved planning our wedding, everything turned out amazing and exactly what I pictured it to be! The best day ever!
