From the Bride:
How they Met:
On a Friday night in February of 2012, Colin and I met at TJ’s Over the Edge, a bar in Blue Springs that has since closed.
I went to the bar alone that night wearing sweats. The only reason I went to the bar was to see and catch up with my good friend Katie, who was bar tending. Colin was at the bar with his friends, John and Jared, playing darts.
After I had a couple beers and gained some liquid courage, I approached Colin and his friends. After introducing myself and getting to know them (as well as attempting darts and failing miserably), I asked Colin for his phone. I entered my number in his phone and returned it to him. We hung out a little while longer and then went our separate ways.
The following Wednesday, I received a call from Colin, he wanted to take me out on a proper date. I accepted, and a few days later Colin and I went out on our first date to Garrozzo’s Italian Ristorante. Three months later, on April 8th, Colin and I became a couple.
A week after our 5 year anniversary, Colin made dinner plans for the two of us at Garrozzo’s to celebrate. Prior to their dinner, Colin told me he had double booked us and that Jessie and Rand would be joining us. I then decided to invite Lindsey and Miles, who then invited Grace. Now with three of my best friends present, the pressure was on.
We were the first to arrive. Colin had planned to propose outside before dinner, but I insisted on waiting inside. Colin had planned on me sitting at the head of the table, where I would be more easily approached. Instead, I positioned myself in the center of the gathering. As luck would have it, it was prom night at the next table. Colin decided against a romantic spectacle with that group.
The ring sat in his lap and his anticipation grew. As usual, I was oblivious. After dining, the conversation was lively, and I was still unaware of Colin’s intent. Abruptly, conversation ended and all eyes turned to Colin. I looked to Colin, saw his expression, and began to cry. Before I knew it he was down on one knee, asking me to be his forever. Colin presented me with the ring and I said, “yes!”
Hug, photos, phone calls and then on to The Peanut to celebrate!
