From the Bride:
Alex and I have a modern love story – we met online! I had to wade through a lot of…. Interesting guys before I met Alex. Alex actually proposed during a concert at Knuckleheads. We LOVE going to see live music and Knuckleheads is one of our favorite venues. One of our favorite musicians, Sean Rowe, was playing in the smallest room at Knuckleheads – the Gospel Lounge. Alex had been making jokes about becoming friends and pen pals with Sean Rowe. Unbeknownst to me, he had actually been emailing with him setting up the perfect proposal. He got Sean to adapt his set list and play my favorite song “Desiree” before he pulled up Alex and me up on stage. He then followed the proposal with the song “By My Side.” Alex also arranged for one of my best and oldest friends to be at the concert as well.
Music is definitely a large part of our relationship. One of the best parts of wedding planning was actually putting together pre-ceremony, happy hour, and dinner playlists.
Honestly, our wedding day was super relaxed! We had a very easy-going attitude throughout planning and it definitely reflected in the day itself. Our goal was for everyone to dance and have fun. However, we knew even if almost everything went wrong, we’d still be married at the end of the day and that’s what we wanted most!
Our wedding actually ended up being so much fun that almost half our guests ended up going to The Ship with us after the reception. We can maybe attribute this to our “No Kids Allowed” wedding. We love all our friends’ and families’ kids, but not having kids really allowed everyone to cut loose and have a care free night.
Our wedding was on Cinco de Mayo, so The Ship ended up having an incredible band playing for Cinco that made it even more fun!
