From the Bride:
How we met:
We knew each other through middle school and high school. I cheered with his sister and would join them on Sundays for their church youth group. We eventually went on a date prior to his freshman year of college and my senior year of high school. That first date didn’t go as well as either of us had hoped, which makes the fact that we reconnected a few years later even more special. We eventually began a long distance relationship while he was at the University of Kansas and myself at Drake University. In time, we moved to Kansas City together, which is where we’ve decided to start the rest of our lives together.
Three years (to the date) after the first time Ben drove to Des Moines to visit me, I came home from work to our apartment.. To find roses, candles everywhere, our song playing, and Ben in the middle of it all, dressed to the nines in his best suit, with a hopeful look on his face, a question on the tip of his tongue, and the most gorgeous ring in hand.
Anyone who knows us knows our love of English bulldogs. and we found the perfect bulldog bride and groom cake toppers! One of my favorite parts of our wedding day was our friends were able to bring our English bulldog to our photos between the ceremony and reception. It means the world to us that we were able to get photos of our little family on our special day.
The moment I absolutely will never forget is walking down the aisle and Ben seeing me for the first time. His emotions were raw and he couldn’t stop smiling. It was evident to everyone in the church how excited we were and that was the first moment we’d seen each other. I’m thrilled I was able to share this moment with our closest friends and family.
