From the bride: Ben and I met in college at UNL through a sorority and fraternity event. Our friends introduced us because we had the same exact birthday. We weren’t yet 21 and our friends all went to the bars. We spent the rest of the evening talking and laughing. Ben was instantly infatuated but it took me a little bit longer to come around because I didn’t think I was ready for a serious relationship. It didn’t take much longer because Ben was very persistent and he knew I would fall in love with him. I fell in love with his sense of humor, his charm, and his heart. We got engaged 3 years later on the day we closed on our house. He had my sister decorate the back deck with lights and roses and when we had to stop back at the house he lit it up and got down on one knee. It was all a blur because I was so excited and instantly said “Yes!”
Exactly one year after our engagement, we got married! Our theme for the wedding was very whimsically romantic. We didn’t need it to be over the top glamorous, we just wanted it to be a good time for everyone. The venue we picked was so naturally beautiful with perfect lighting that we didn’t feel we needed a lot of decoration, which we loved. We are very simple and true people and we wanted our wedding to reflect that.
The wedding day was surprisingly stress free and so much fun. Our photographer captured every moment perfectly and we get to relive the day as we look through our photos. One thing that I will always remember was that our officiant made a mistake when Ben was saying his declaration of consent to me. Ben, being so nervous in front of a crowd, just nonchalantly repeated after her. She recognized her mistake and corrected it, but Ben, of course in the middle of the ceremony, made a joke and had everyone laughing hysterically.
We are so blessed that we got to share our wedding day with everyone that we love and if we could do it all again we wouldn’t change a thing!
Thank you Altar Bridal for making me feel so beautiful and comfortable in my own skin on my wedding day! My favorite thing about my dress was that I could re-tie it throughout the night after I ate all the delicious food and cake when it felt a little snug.
