Real Bride: Sarah H.

We are so in love with our Real Bride Sarah and her stunning wedding day look. We just had to share all these photos because we couldn’t narrow it down. Her look was classic with her Heidi Elnora fit to flare gown and Lea-Ann Belter lace cover-up. She then changed her look for the reception and added a glittering sash. Thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us- we truly loved getting to work with you during this important time.

From the bride:

This truly was the best day ever! Surrounded by our friends and family in Lawrence during the Fall…nothing beats that! Sunshine, Fall leaves, and perfect temperatures made for a beautiful setting throughout the day.

We started the day separate, Paul and the groomsmen at Hoglund ballpark, the Jayhawks Baseball field, and me with the bridesmaids at The Oread.

My favorite part about the day was the first look, when it was just Paul and I. It felt like the calm before the storm. Getting to see him for the first time and having him see me, was amazing. He got a huge grin on his face and shed a few tears while I couldn’t stop telling him how good he looked!
The moment only got sweeter when our Puppy joined us. His name is Tuxedo “Tux” Smyth, named in honor of our wedding. At the time he was only 4 months old. Paul and I both laughed and smiled when he ran out to us and he did such a great job posing for the Camera. He might have stolen the show!

The underlying theme to the whole day was our “coast to coast” love story. While Paul has spent the last several years playing professional baseball, I’ve spent that same amount of time climbing the corporate latter. This has led to, at times, a very long distance relationship. We have permanently lived in 4 cities together due to my job moving me around the country, and Paul has temporarily lived in many more cities during the baseball season. I have traveled to many places to be with him throughout the years. We have made the most of this crazy lifestyle, finding love and fun all across America.

The programs for the ceremony and remainder of the day was organized into 9 innings (just like that of baseball game).
Innings 1 – 6: Processional, Welcome, Scripture Reading, Exchanging of Vows, Exchanging of Rings, Pronouncement of marriage
Inning 7: “The 7th Inning Stretch Cocktail Hour” complete with a full popcorn bar (just like at the ballpark) and drinks!
Inning 8: Call to the Bullpen to introduce the Bride and Groom
Inning 9: Dinner, Drinks, and Dancing the night away!
All 25 of the Tables at our reception were named after cities we have spent time in during our relationship. Each table had a menu card with a paragraph about our time in or the importance of that city to us. This was a unique and fun way for guests to learn more about our love story.

We both are avid Jayhawks so the wedding was not complete until Big Jay made an appearance! He got everyone out to the dance floor and made for a fun wedding guest!

Because of the crazy nature of our lives and all the moving we have been forced to due to our professions we have found comfort in the bible verse below. This was present during the ceremony and throughout the days leading up to the Wedding:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…”
